What insurance companies does Valence Nutrition participate with?

If you are in South Carolina, unfortunately, SC insurance companies are not accepting dietitians in-network; therefore, we cannot accept health insurance directly. However, we do accept HSA or FSA, and if your insurance company does cover nutrition services, I can help provide a medical receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. For out-of-state clients whose plan covers for nutrition services, we can also provide you with a superbill to submit to insurance.

We believe that people deserve access to critical nutrition services and are working with a group of SC dietitians to get our services covered, as dietitian services are in almost every other state. If you live in SC and are covered by BCBS, United Healthcare, or Cigna, please feel free to use this complaint form to make it known to your insurer.

What happens if you do not participate with my insurance?

If you carry insurance that does cover nutrition counseling, you will need to pay for your counseling session at the time of service. We are happy to provide you with a “Superbill” and/or an itemized invoice you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Reimbursement is based on your policy’s standards. Please call your insurance company’s member services number to verify how reimbursement works under your current insurance policy.

Please note that if you do have an insurance which considers us as out-of-network, we cannot submit directly on your behalf – we can only supply you with the appropriate paperwork. Therefore, payment is due at the time of service.

Is there a charge for the various programs you offer even if I have unlimited visits covered by insurance carrier?

Yes, there is a start-up fee of $375.00 plus tax which includes your initial assessment, Bodygem Metabolism Test, and your customized meal planner booklet. Amy can provide more concrete details of cost once she knows what you have for coverage through your insurance carrier. Please feel free to email her office staff at amy.plano@yahoo.com with specific insurance related questions.

What If I only have two covered visits, am I still eligible for the nutrition program?

Yes, these visits will get deducted from the total price of the program.
